However, it matches up with what I've read and heard about the subject--NPR did a few stories on it years ago, and the primary sources appear to be real:

http://www.jewish-history.com/civilwar/seder.html

I think Manischewitz used the Levy letter on one of its matzoh boxes years ago, but some people complained that it could be seen as pro-Confederacy.

Cheers,
BenitoBenitohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15642446480589939085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10338337.post-41268090095904861422011-04-10T08:05:12.580-07:002011-04-10T08:05:12.580-07:00Benito, did you notice that the Kosher story was a...Benito, did you notice that the Kosher story was also posted on April 1?

Love your April Fool's post! :)Do Bianchihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12744434741371288465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10338337.post-59565318976144181762011-04-03T07:43:15.013-07:002011-04-03T07:43:15.013-07:00Nice article, thanks for the information.Nice article, thanks for the information.sewa mobilhttp://griyamobilkita.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10338337.post-74669813337127150432011-04-02T05:06:29.440-07:002011-04-02T05:06:29.440-07:00Yes, Benito, and the flask-making industry was amo...Yes, Benito, and the flask-making industry was among the most profitable during the Civil War...Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07322028233207741737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10338337.post-88930872621065271972011-04-01T19:51:09.732-07:002011-04-01T19:51:09.732-07:00Julie,

For instance, I love reading about kosher food during the Civil War. You had Jews on both sides of the fight who would scrounge together odd bits to cook their own seder, and packaged kosher foods were shipped out of the larger cities in the North out to soldiers in time for the various holidays.

Cheers,
BenitoBenitohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15642446480589939085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10338337.post-55868580011670137842011-04-01T19:37:51.593-07:002011-04-01T19:37:51.593-07:00Ahem, I mean...
